Essex County Community ECCO - is a non-profit, interfaith, broad based community organization on Boston’s North Shore that include churches, synagogues, a family housing project, school parents’ groups, and labor unions. ECCO’s mission is to develop leadership to build power and collaboration among families and communities on the North Shore. We are guided by a firm belief in the democratic principle that all people are created equal and have the right to make decisions about important issues affecting their neighborhoods. ECCO is governed by a board elected annually by the membership, and has a staff of one professional organizer. ECCO accepts no government funding for its operating budget.

CORI Reform Rally

ECCO and its state-wide partnerships, in collaboration with other non-profits groups in the state, hosting a rally in support of the new CORI reform legislation. that is:

Thursday May 22nd: State House in Boston @2:00 pm

Press Conference in Lynn: 112 Exchange St. Lynn MA @ 12:00 pm

LPN Tutors Needed

ECCO and the Breaking Through Initiative are currently looking for tutors for adults looking to get into the North Shore Community College's LPN program. No tutoring experience needed, tutors need only have a basic understanding pf math, science and reading comprehension. Please contact Tom Lemons at TLemons@eccoaction.org for more information.

Next MCAN Safe Teens Safe Communities Coalition Meeting

The next MCAN meeting will be held on July 7th, 2008 at the BIC headquarters in Brockton MA. This meeting will be held to discuss new statewide organizing initiatives such as: illegal handgun control, and CORI reform legislation.
